Press kit.
Protestbum is a prelaunch on-demand marketplace for protest participation: you create your own protest, and a willing, paid protester carries it out wherever it needs to happen. It isn’t live yet: today it’s a waitlist and a protester list, with no bookings, payments or protester work.
In one paragraph
Protestbum is building an on-demand marketplace for protest participation. Its core service, Create Your Protest, lets someone design an original, lawful protest about the issues people already demonstrate over, from healthcare and immigration to climate and government spending, choosing the message, sign, place, time, duration and number of protesters. A willing adult carries it out at that place, so the customer doesn’t have to be there, whether it’s across town or across the country. A feature, Join an Existing Protest, lets someone who can’t make a demonstration that’s already planned arrange for a willing adult to attend on their behalf. Both use the same protesters, accounts and planned check-ins. Protesters choose which requests to accept and are paid for their time; paid participation will always be disclosed. The company is viewpoint-neutral: it doesn’t endorse parties, candidates or causes, and signup never asks about political views.

Questions journalists ask
What can I do today?
Join the waitlist to be told when the app launches, or join the protester waitlist if you’d like to protest for pay. The demos on this site show how the app is designed to work.
Creating protests, joining existing ones, matching, booking, payments and live tracking are planned and not available yet. Joining the waitlist doesn’t reserve anything or set a price.
Am I paying for someone’s opinion?
No. You’d be paying for someone’s time to carry your message at a lawful protest, not for their beliefs, vote or endorsement. Protesters choose which requests to accept and keep their own views, and paid participation is disclosed.
Is paid protesting legal?
Rules about paid participation, disclosure and public assemblies differ from place to place. Protestbum will open city by city, and the rules for each city will be published before anyone can book or protest there.
Our terms will prohibit violence, harassment and unlawful activity. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
Will it be clear that protesters are paid?
Yes. Transparency is a core principle: Protestbum won’t present protesters as unpaid supporters. How paid participation is disclosed will be set with legal guidance for each launch city.
Does Protestbum take political sides?
No. Protestbum is viewpoint-neutral infrastructure: it doesn’t endorse parties, candidates, ideologies or causes, and it applies the same rules to every request. Signup never asks about your politics.
