Prelaunch: Nothing can be booked yet

Create it. Send it. Follow it.

Create your own protest, send it to willing protesters near the place you choose, and follow it from anywhere.

Can’t make a demonstration that’s already planned? A willing protester can attend it for you. How joining an existing protest works

How the marketplace fits together: customers send a request, Protestbum checks it and offers it to protesters nearby, a protester chooses to accept, and the session is verified.

How creating your own protest works

An original demonstration at the place you choose, near you or far away. You design it; a willing protester carries it out, so you don’t have to be there.

You’re requesting time, not opinions.

A customer requests an agreed period of protest participation by a willing person. That’s the service: real presence, at a real place, for the agreed time, with a record of it.

What you receive

  • An agreed period of real-world protest participation, by a person who chose to accept your request
  • Your message, place, time and duration, carried out as agreed
  • Arrival confirmation, a session timer and check-in photos or short videos
  • A completion summary when the session ends

What you don’t receive

  • The protester’s beliefs, vote or endorsement: they keep their own views
  • Any endorsement from an event’s organizers, or a say over their event
  • Being shown as attending yourself: paid participation is disclosed
  • A guaranteed outcome, crowd size or media coverage

The other side of the marketplace

How being a protester works.

Protesters are independent adults who choose each request they take. Here’s the planned process, from applying to getting paid.

  1. Apply to participate

Join the protester waitlist today with your name, email, city and date of birth. Applications open where the app launches.

  2. Eligibility and onboarding

18+, identity checks and the onboarding steps required where you live.

  3. Browse requests

Requests in your area: customers’ own protests and existing demonstrations.

  4. Review the details

The message, place, time, duration, check-ins and pay, all before you commit.

  5. Accept or decline

Always voluntary. Decline anything, for any reason, without penalty.

  6. Take part as agreed

Lawful and peaceful, in the agreed public place, for the agreed time.

  7. Submit verification

Arrival check-in and a few short photo or video check-ins during the session.

  8. Get paid

Payment for completed sessions, under terms disclosed before you accept.

Planned Only step 1 is open today. No number of requests or earnings is promised: paid opportunities depend on launch in your area and on customer demand.Become a Protester

Proof it happened. Privacy for who did it.

Someone is paying for real participation, so every session is designed to leave evidence, without tracking anyone outside it. None of this is live yet.

  • Location verification

The protester’s phone confirms they reached the agreed protest area during the session. It isn’t used before the session starts or after it ends.

  • Session timer

The agreed duration, the start time and progress, visible to both the customer and the protester.

  • Photo and video check-ins

A few short, prompted check-ins at random times, as evidence of attendance. Never a prompt that asks someone to take a risk or to film bystanders.

  • Completion records

After the session, the customer sees a summary: arrival, time in the area, the check-ins and completion. Not the protester’s movements outside it.

  • Privacy protections

Location is sensitive, especially at a protest. Access will be limited to the session, proportionate to what verification needs, and based on the protester’s consent.

  • Location, by design

    • Only while a session is active
    • Only the agreed area, not a trail of movements
    • Only with the protester’s permission, which they can withdraw
    • Kept no longer than verification and disputes need

A clear line between what works now and what’s being built. No one can book, pay, create a protest or be matched yet, and the site doesn’t store protest requests or drafts.

How it will work, answered.

About what works today and how the marketplace is meant to work. Something missing? Contact us

Can I create a protest that doesn’t already exist?

Yes, that’s Create Your Protest. You’ll design an original demonstration: the issue, the message, the sign, a public place, the day and time, how long it lasts and how many protesters. It doesn’t depend on any existing event. It isn’t available yet.

Does my protest have to be near where I live?

No. That’s the idea: you create the protest for the place where it matters, across town or across the country, and follow it from wherever you are.

It needs willing protesters near that place, and Protestbum will open city by city, so not every place will be available at launch. There’s no launch city or date yet.

Can I send someone to an existing demonstration?

Yes, that’s Join an Existing Protest. You’ll find a demonstration (or add the details of one that isn’t listed), choose how many protesters go and for how long, and a willing protester can accept. It doesn’t make you part of the organizers’ event, connect you with them, or imply they endorse Protestbum.

How many protesters can I request?

One person, or a small group. The limit for each request hasn’t been set: it will depend on the place, local rules and how many willing protesters are nearby. A request for several protesters may be accepted by fewer than you asked for, and you’d see that before anything is final.

Do protesters have to agree with the cause?

No one is required to agree, and no one is required to accept. Protesters are paid for their time to carry a lawful message, not for their beliefs, and they keep their own views. Each protester decides which requests to take, so some will choose only causes they support.

Can a protester decline my request?

Yes, always. Protesters see the message, place, time, duration, pay and check-ins before accepting, and can decline any request without giving a reason. If no one accepts, nothing is booked.

Can I choose a precise location?

You’ll choose a specific public place, such as a sidewalk, plaza or park, and the app will mark the area where the protest takes place. Some places won’t be allowed: private property without permission, someone’s home, and spots where rules restrict demonstrations. Each request will be checked against local rules before it can be booked.

How will payment work?

The plan is for customers to pay inside Protestbum when they book, with the full price shown before confirming, and for protesters to be paid after the session is complete.

The payment provider, fees, payout timing and tax handling aren’t final. No prices are set and no earnings are guaranteed.

How will attendance be verified?

The plan: the protester’s phone confirms they reached the agreed area while the session is active, a timer shows the agreed duration and progress, and a few short photo or video check-ins arrive at random times. Location is used only during the session. None of this is live yet.

Can I see photos or videos?

That’s the plan: the check-in photos and short videos taken during your session would appear in your completion record. They’re meant to show the protest took place, not to identify bystanders, and a check-in will never ask a protester to do anything unsafe. What’s kept, and for how long, will be set before launch.

Is Protestbum available yet?

Not yet. Today you can join the waitlist, or the protester waitlist if you’d like to protest for pay. Requests, matching, booking, payments and verification are being built, and there’s no launch city or date yet.

What restrictions apply to protest activity?

Every request must be lawful and peaceful, in a public place. No violence or weapons, threats, harassment or intimidation, trespassing, blocking entrances, roads or access to services, targeting someone’s home, impersonation, or faked check-ins. The same rules apply to every viewpoint.

Local laws on demonstrations, permits and paid participation differ from place to place, so the rules for each city will be published before anyone can book there. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
